Gaulien Lee Alexander Smith II
Gaulien “ Gee” Smith has undoubtedly rewritten the blue print for America’s barbershops and hair salons, providing outstanding service and philanthropy to his colleagues, and customers with his innate abilities and passion. Exemplifying a personal vested interest in his business and community “Gee” applies three key principals; grooming, growing, and leading.
Gaulien Smith is the owner and operator of Gee’s Clippers and Hair Design, which has proudly serviced its loyal celebrity and Midwest based clientele for 20 years. Understanding that his business is an integral community hub “Gee” opened a second location in 2006 broadening his vision and expanding his reach as the “go to” barbershop in the Wisconsin Area. Involved in unprecedented community and civic engagements. Gee is one of the city’s most notable figures; being sought out by major league sports franchisers, area corporations, and politicians alike, to assist their efforts to reach targeted urban markets. A recipient of numerous awards honored by proclamation for greatness with altruism and distinction; Gee continues to stay involved in countless recognizable arenas. Helping the City of Milwaukee reach its goal of 5,000 donated athletic shoes for the Nike Re-Use A Shoe program, assisting the Covenant Health Care Barbershop Initiative to fight Colorectal and prostate cancers in African American men, participating as a spokesperson for the city of Milwaukee’s End the Smoke Campaign, establishing and organizing his very own Boy scouts troop, along with helping the Milwaukee Urban League’s Diabetes awareness Outreach Project only skim the surface of Gee’s dedication and outstanding service. With great honor Gee excepted the invitation to throw out the 1st pitch at the Milwaukee Brewers game. This amazing opportunity was given to him as a token of appreciation for his love, loyalty and philanthropic endeavors as selfless entrepreneur and community activist.
Gee credits his success and his dreams being brought to fruition to his unwavering faith in God. He continues to volunteer at the city schools and community centers making his commitment to youth, health, education, economic development and community empowerment as bold and evident as his marketing brand. With vivid imagery and great attention to details, his mission continues to be about service.
His motto in life can be found in the African Proverb: Care more than others think is wise, risk more than others think is safe. Expect more than others think is practical. Dream more than others think is possible.
